Heritage Highlights

Rediscovering stories

18 May to September 2019 - FREE

Heritage Eastbourne highlights will include the return of last year’s poignant End of War and Extraordinary Women displays, celebrating the centenaries of both the end of WW1 and also the first votes for women.
The new installation will also incorporate the brand new Heritage Lottery funded Gasbags Ahoy! exhibition, produced by Creative Force and volunteers from the local community, which tells the fascinating story of the R.N.A.S. Polegate Airship Station during World War 1.

The free exhibition features the stories behind the ‘Faces of the Fort’ from the Redoubt Fortress, which is currently open on weekends only for guided ‘hard hat’ tours while restoration works take place.
